30th Reunion Picnic

BBQ & Lindo Lake, what a combo
October 12, 2008… (Day 3)

As some of the reunion committee members slowly rolled in from a very late night to set up for the picnic, yours truly included, we were still all smiles from the amazing time we had the night before. We were still so amazed by the wonderful turn out and we were anticipating for the same today. It was a great day for a picnic in Lakeside.

A little over 50 Alum’s came to Lindo Lake, some of which hadn’t attended the night before so it was just as exciting and the laughing and squealing resumed. We had pictures from the two previous nights that were projected on a screen for all to see and got to play a rousing round of “Name that Alum”, it was fun. Thank you Rhonda (Smith) Johnson for getting your pictures on a disk so quickly.

Grill Master Marty Miles brought his very own BBQ on wheels, the size of Vermont no less, to cook up all of the meat, and non-meat products. A fine job Grill Master, everything was delicious. Thanks to everyone for bringing a side dish. There was plenty of food and even some left over.

They say it is a good sign if people don’t want to leave a party and just like the night before, people didn’t want to leave the picnic. They were having such a good time visiting with old friends. But even good things have to come to an end and this day certainly brought the 3-day, 30-year Reunion weekend to a memorable close.

My personal hope is that everyone who attended one or all of the events was able to reconnect with a lost friend that you haven’t seen in 30-years and that you won’t wait another 30 to be in each other’s life. Each day is a precious gift that we usually take for granted and to be able to share some of those precious days from now on with people who were a part of the most formative years of your life is an extra-special gift that shouldn’t be taken for granted. I know I have gained 6 new-old friends just by being a part of the committee that have enriched my life so much. Thank you all for everything. It was marvelous!

See you at the Party in 2010. It’s going to be the event of the year so BE THERE you won’t want to miss it!
